Ammunition Purchase Policy & Guidelines
Last updated 10/6/23
Purchasing and taking possession of ammunition follows important rules and regulations set by the ATF. Listed below you will find the steps needed to complete your purchase and take possession of your ammunition. We welcome any questions you may have regarding your purchase, and the process required to obtain your ammunition. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at customerservice@therealgrit.com or 844-537-4867.
Do we sell ammunition in your state?
We plan to sell ammunition in all states, but for now we sell only in the contiguous United States except in the following locations: California, New York, Illinois, Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Washington DC. We are working hard to add additional states and will provide updates as we navigate the regulatory challenges associated with certain state and local jurisdictions. If you’re on the ‘coming soon’ list for ammunition listed above, please check back with us as we hope to serve your needs soon. In the meantime, you can order everything else we have to offer or contact us at customerservice@therealgrit.com with any questions.
FFL Considerations
While we do not currently sell ammunition to certain states listed above that require an FFL (Federal Firearms License) transfer, we have references in this policy that require such processing. We are providing this information because it is our intention to add additional states over time. For any customers ordering ammunition where these restrictions are NOT in place, your order will be shipped directly to the address you provide during checkout and will not have to be processed through an FFL dealer.
Here's a quick overview:
-
Ammunition Policy & Guidelines, Terms & Conditions: Agree to Terms and Conditions during your checkout.
-
Online Checkout: Select your ammunition and complete checkout.
-
Shipping & Delivery: You will receive an order confirmation from us. When your order is processed, we will email the shipping tracking information. If you live in a state or city that requires the use of an FFL dealer to obtain ammunition, you will receive additional instructions to complete your purchase.
Overview
Ammunition will be shipped to the address you provided during checkout unless you live in a state requiring the use of an FFL dealer to obtain ammunition, and provided it is legal for you to purchase and possess ammunition in that state, county or city. Please consult applicable laws and regulations to determine if you can legally purchase ammunition where you reside. Only the person whose name appears on the order will be allowed to take possession of the ammunition you have purchased.
Placing Your Ammunition Order
- Once you have selected the item(s) you want, you will be prompted to enter your shipping address. Your order will be shipped to that address.
FFL Transfers: If the state or city in which you reside requires the use of an FFL dealer to take possession of your ammunition, you will receive additional instructions from us or the FFL dealer you have selected for pick-up. It is important that you know the rules and regulations for your area. We will ask you which FFL dealer you want us to send your order to.
Shipping & Returns
-
You will receive an order confirmation when your order has been submitted.
-
We will send your shipping tracking information when your order has been processed and the order has been shipped. As mentioned above, you may receive additional instructions if your order needs to be transferred through an FFL dealer.
-
Applicable taxes will be added to your order during checkout. If your order goes through an FFL dealer, you may be asked to complete a background check. You may also be assessed additional fees and taxes when you pick up your order.
-
Ammunition orders cannot be returned, and all sales are final.
Restrictions and Legal Compliance
-
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase long gun ammunition and 21 or older for handgun ammunition.
-
It is your responsibility to ensure that your possession of ammunition complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. The Real Grit, Inc. (and applicable wholesale and retail partners) take no responsibility for your violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
-
If your ammunition order needs to be completed through an FFL, please ensure that you have a valid, government-issued photo ID when picking up your order. We recommend bringing along a copy (i.e. email confirmation) of your order. Most states with FFL transfer requirements will require that your ID matches your current residence. You may also be asked to conduct a background check and possess certain state licenses or registrations.
